Medicare and most other insurance companies will cover home healthcare for people who are homebound and have a need for either therapy (i.e., Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy) or Nursing. While each individual is unique, the most common reasons that people need home healthcare include:

  • Recent decline in health for any reason
  • Recent fall in or out of the home
  • Feeling weak or unsteady on your feet
  • Recent move to a new home setting
  • New health diagnosis (i.e. diabetes, congestive heart failure)
  • Recent hospitalization/surgery
  • Medications have been added or changed by your physician

Homebound is defined by Medicare as “a difficult and taxing effort for an individual to leave the home”. Most people who are homebound go out infrequently and need assistance to exit the home safely. Medicare does allow homebound individuals to go out for doctor’s appointments, religious services and other infrequent outings. If you are homebound, our qualified staff will with work with you and your family to make it easier for you to exit the home safely.

Absolutely! Our staff can provide home health services in your home setting, even if it is a senior apartment or an assisted living facility. However, we cannot provide home health services in a nursing home or an adult day center.

No you do not. Medicare and most other insurances clearly state that healthcare providers must offer clients a choice of providers and respect your choices. All reputable physicians and healthcare providers are familiar with this requirement and will support your right to choose your providers.

Most skilled home health agencies have physical therapists, but not all of them specialize in home rehab to the degree that we do. Our therapists and nurses are familiar with the protocols of several orthopedic surgeons in the area and we stay in close communication with the surgeon throughout your care.
